THE PILLAR OF HOPE, INC. (TPOH) is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization established to serve the needs of an underprivileged community by providing support groups, life skills training, and health and nutrition education. The Pillar of Hope Community Development Center will be a multi-purpose, state-of-the-art community center in Houston, Texas. Help us bring hope to a needy community.
BRINGING HOPE TO THE COMMUNITY
How do you respond when life happens? What do you do when your world is turned upside down? Well, for some of us, we turn to those things that we think will ease the pain. It's our way of coping with our problems. We turn to drugs. We start drinking. We turn to bad relationships. In desperation, we start making bad decisions. Some of us try to run away from the problem, while others try to deal with it alone. When life happens, we get depressed, devastated by the news, and even feel hopeless. If we don't deal with adversities properly, with support and encouragement from others, we end up making matters worse. This can and will affect our families, our communities, our cities, and this world.
Hi. My name is Rhovonda Brown and I am honored to be the president and CEO of The Pillar of Hope, Inc. The Pillar of Hope (TPOH) Community Development Center will be planted in my hometown, Houston Texas. I was born and raised in Houston and I lived most of my life in Trinity Garden. I have experienced setbacks, many challenges, and misfortunes: being a victim of child abuse and molestation. At age four I witness the murder of my mother and at age 18, witness the sudden death of my grandmother. I lost my oldest brother to AIDS, and struggled with alcohol, insecurities, self-esteem, depression, and loneliness, to say the least. My journey has not been easy nor pretty; yet, through it all, I have found hope and strength to overcome.
Right now, I’m working on a huge project that will allow me to help other individuals who have similar experiences find hope and strength to overcome whatever battle they may face.
TPOH will bring encouragement, support, and hope to a needy person, family, and community. This project is epic! I cannot do it alone. I need you. Will you help me?

Help bring hope to the teenager who is being physically and sexually abused.

Let’s bring hope to the mother who just received the awful news that her baby girl was killed by a drunk driver or her son was gunned down by gun violence.
Help bring hope to a father who is unable to provide food for his family.
SERVING THE COMMUNITY BY IMPACTING ONE FAMILY AT A TIME
TPOH will provide skills, training, support, education, and resources to guide individuals and families through their challenging times.
We will offer a food pantry that will distribute nonperishable food items once a month to those in need.
